MID-YEAR BOOK FREAK OUT TAG

HEYYYYY YA,

Today I am doing a tag that I don’t actually think I was tagged to do but it was co created by one of my friends Chami from ReadLikeWildfire and everyone seemed to be doing this therefore I had to join the band wagon

QUESTION #1 – BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ IN 2017 SO FAR?
For me I of course can not choose just one therefore I will give you three: Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff, Draekora by Lynette Noni and Remind Me How This Ends by Gabrielle Tozer.

QUESTION #2 – BEST SEQUEL READ IN 2017 SO FAR?
Excluding the two mentioned in the first question, I would have to say I would have to go with A Court of Wings and Ruin because it was the end of one of my fave series ever.

QUESTION #3 – NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO?
I really want to read Telophy by Wanda Wiltshire, I have started it a little but I really would like to finish it sometime very soon!

QUESTION #4 – MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR?
This is a tricky one because I actually have read most of the ones that I anticipated this half early, but I am dying to read Adam Silvera’s new book They Both Die At The End.

QUESTION #5 – BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?
Forever and Always Lara Jean, this book just wasn’t what I wanted at all and I all round just found it really rushed, I have a review of it on my blog if you would like to hear more HERE

QUESTION #6 – BIGGEST SURPRISE?
Remind Me How This Ends, I wasn’t expecting to relate to it as much as I did and I just all round loved it so much more than I thought I would.

QUESTION #7 – FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR? (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)
This is 100% Jen Wilde, the author of Queens of Geek, this book was awesome and had so many different diverse themes in it that I adored and can’t wait to read more of Jen’s works!

QUESTION #8 – NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?
Teddy from Windfall was pretty cute and I’d totally have him hahah but also the gorgeous Rhysand as usual I would accept just as much.

QUESTION #9 – NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER?
I really loved the character of Esther Solar from The Semi Definitive List of Worst Nightmares, she was so intriguing and just all round different from what you see in a lot of books, you can read more about her in my review HERE

QUESTION #10 – BOOKS THAT MADE YOU CRY?
Geekerella by Ashley Poston made me cry a lil in a very emotional scene but it was more so angry tears and tears of frustration hahah, but it was just so cute I couldn’t help but adore it.

QUESTION #11 – A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?
I loved reading Draekora by Lynette Noni, any new book by Lyn has me super happy because I would go on adventures with Alex any day of the week if I could TBH

QUESTION #12 – WHAT DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
I must get to reading some of V E Schwab books because Sarah from WrittenWordWorlds has been begging me forever to start them and I just bought her duology therefore I should have no excuses to not read them soon!

THATS ALL FOR NOW!

COMMENT BELOW WHAT YOU’RE EXCITED TO READ BEFORE THIS YEAR ENDS

THE MEDORAN CHRONICLES BOOK TAG!!!

HEY GUYS, TODAY I WAS TAGGED BY KAYSIA FROM BOOKSKAY TO DO THIS COOL TAG THAT HER AND JENNA FROM JUSTALITTLEBITRANDOM CREATED FOR THE RELEASE OF DRAEKORA, HERE ARE MY ANSWERS TO THEIR QUESTIONS:

1. Medora: Alex steps through a doorway and ends up in Medora. If you had the chance to step through a doorway, which fictional world would you want to end up in?
I would LOVE to visit the Night Court from A Court of Mist and Fury because I love the night sky and I would just love to see it especially since Rhysand also lives there and I wanna see him too ahah.

2. Akarnae: Alex and friends attend Akarnae Academy. Which fictional school would you like to attend?
A fictional school I would like to visit would have to be Vampire Academy because I would SO love to hang out with Rose and become as kick ass as her and maybe even meet a cute vamp.

3. Alex, Jordan & Bear: Alex, Jordan and Bear have the best friendship. What is your favourite pair or group of platonic friends?
I would have to say for this one it would be Simon and Clary as they have such a unique friendship that is just so loving and caring in such a friend way and they are always there to guide each other through tough times.

4. Potential Pops: Classes at Akarnae are ranked by a person’s potential in that particular area. Which typical, perfect, YA protagonist would be in Epsilon – the highest rank – for every class?
This would have to be Mia from Nevernight, she is seen to be the best of the best especially when it comes to combat and being an amazing assassin.

5. The Library: The Library at Akarnae is sentient and is always giving Alex advice. Which fictional character would you like to be there to give you advice when you need it?
I would love for Charlie from Girl in Pieces to be there to mentor me because she is such a strong and independent person that I feel doesn’t know in her head what to do all of the time but her heart pulls her to do the right thing, and she always makes some really tricky decisions but in the end she made the right choices.

6. Raelia: Raelia is a crossroads where people have to make a choice. If you were forced to chose only one genre to read for the rest of your life, which would it be?
This is a hard one, I sometimes struggle reading a lot of fantasy in which I love but if I had to read one thing it would probably have to be contemporary because I could read that all day every day and I wouldn’t get brain fried from taking in so much information as I need to when I read some fantasies.

7. Kalex: We’re all die-hard lovers of Kaiden and Alex’s slow burning romance. What is an OTP that took too long to happen?
JACE AND CLARY OH MY GOSH. My heart hurt for those first few books, the tension was insane and I just wanted to push them towards being with each other but also that um plot twist.

8. D.C.: We all know D.C. as the character with the secret past, who we eventually come to love. Name a shady character you ended up loving.
For me this 100% was Rhysand, from the ACOTAR series, he was so shady in book one and I wasn’t sure about him at the start but then book two came along and then all the feels for him began to start ahh.

9. Meya: Meya is the lost city. What book have you lost that you would love to find.
I can’t seem to locate where my copies of A Series of Unfortunate Events is and I REALLY want to re read them after I saw the netflix series on them because I loved it and now it looks as though I’m going to need to buy new copies

10. Predictions: What is one prediction you have for Draekora?
ITS AMAZING AND GOING TO BE A HEARTBREAKER (already read it before this tag oops)

THE 100 CHARACTERS BOOK TAG – ORIGINAL

HEY GUYS!
TODAY I DECIDED TO CREATE MY OWN TAG, I DONT THINK ANYONE HAS MADE ONE LIKE THIS BEFORE IF THEY HAVE IM SO SORRY LEMME KNOW, BUT AS YOU KNOW I JUST RE WATCHED THE 100 AND FELL BACK IN LOVE WITH SO MANY CHARACTERS AGAIN SO I DECIDED I WOULD GO AHEAD AND CREATE THIS TAG

CLARKE GRIFFIN – CHARACTER THAT IS ALWAYS LOSING LOVED ONES:
I think one of the most obvious answers to this would be Katniss Everdeen, without naming them all I think those that have read/watched the movies would know that she lost a lot of people she loved throughout the course of the story.

HU309B_0214b.jpg

BELLAMY BLAKE – CUTE FICTIONAL GUY THAT CAN BE AN ASSHOLE SOMETIMES:
So many characters fit into this category (LOL) but the one I am going to say for this will be William Herondale because lets be real he was a bit of an ass throughout the Infernal Devices series.

1x08-Day-Trip-bellamy-blake-37175219-500-281.jpg

OCTAVIA BLAKE – STRONG INDEPENDANT LEAD CHARACTER:
One character that reminds me a lot of Octavia would be Charlie from Girl in Pieces, she isn’t in the same genre as Octavia and probably doesn’t have the same sort of meaning to strong too but in a way they are very differently and the same at the same time.

o.jpg

JOHN MURPHY – UNDERRATED SIDE CHARACTER THAT IS FULL OF SARCASM:
A character that I think is very underrated and also very sarcastic just like John would have to be Johanna Mason from Catching Fire, especially when people didn’t see her in the movie before she was even casted I feel she was very underrated and most people went after Finnick when he was introduced more than Johanna.

murphy-small.jpeg

JASPAR JORDAN – HERO THATS ALWAYS HEARTBROKEN:
A hero that I find to be always heartbroken would be Mor from A Court of Mist and Fury, I feel as though she has been through a lot of trauma in her time and she is always helping and saving the ones around her before herself.

MV5BMTc2MzkxOTIzNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzc1NDQ0NDE@._V1_.jpg

RAVEN REYES – DIVERSE CHARACTER THAT DESERVES MORE LOVE:
A character that I find deserves more love and is also a sufferer of prosopagnosia which is where the person affected can not put peoples faces into their long term memory therefore not letting them recognise anyone even their loved ones, Jack from Holding Up the Universe suffers from this and I think that it was very interesting to learn about this illness he has as I had never heard of it before.

Raven-Reyes-the-100-tv-show-37056684-500-281.jpg

FINN COLLINS – AKA SPACEWALKER, A CHARACTER FROM SPACE:
Of course I’m going to say David from Fire in the Woods because it is basically the only book I can tolerate with an alien in it because the topic of space and aliens kinda weirds me out and I just don’t really like it but David is from space and I do for the most part like him.

finn.jpg

HEDA LEXA – A CHARACTER THAT IS MADE TO BE A LEADER:
A character that I always see as a leader would be Alex from the Medora Chronicles, she’s always very good at making fast decisions and she always seems to be the independent thinker of the group that is always saving her and her friends when she needs with her fast thinking and leadership qualities.

lexa.jpg

MONTY GREEN – CHARACTER THAT IS GOOD WITH TECHNOLOGY:
Penny from Girl Online is very good at technology as the book is about her making and writing on her blog and she also emails and texts people a fair bit in the book too which shows that she is pretty good at a wide range of technology.

70d405357be15638b9bc2aaa9863f944.png

ABIGAIL GRIFFIN – A CHARACTER THAT IS A HEALER:
Primrose Everdeen is the very obvious answer for this question, she was a growing healer as she was growing up after Katniss was in the games and she also helped her mother heal Gale after his back was whipped and she was just made to be a healer in her blood.

I DARE YOU BOOK TAG

HEYYYY BOOK PALS

I WAS TAGGED BY THE LOVELY DANIELLE FROM OVER AT CHRONICLES OF DANIELLE TO DO THIS TAG SO I FOR ONCE AM GOING TO COME THROUGH AND DO IT YAYYYY

RULES:
You must be honest
You must answer all the questions
You must tag at least 4 people

1. What book has been on your shelf the longest?

The longest book to be on my shelf is for sure my original copies of The Hunger Games that I read back in 2011/12. The one that has been there the longest unread however is probably Crossed and Reached by Ally Condie.

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?

My current read is Vigilante by Kady Cross and I have only just started it so I don’t have a solid opinion of it yet but I will have a review of it very soon! My next read I think will either be The Blazing Star or A Court of Mist and Fury (re read)

3. What book did everyone like, but you hated?

I could name 101 books for this but just to name one I would have to say  the Throne of Glass series, just found it to be very over rated and not as good as her other series. I also found it to be very boring and drag on in a few parts that made me lose interest super fast.

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

I forever keep on telling myself that I will get around to reading the Bloodlines series books but honestly I just cant bear to part with the Vampire Academy characters that I don’t think I will read them.

5. What book are you saving for retirement?

Honestly I’ll probably re read heaps of my faves like The Hunger Games, The Medora Chronicles and Nevernight when I’m retired just over and over again.

6. Last page: read it first, or wait ’til the end?

Whoever reads the last page of a book first is not human ahah, but seriously usually the worst of spoilers, plot twists and cliffhangers are back there.

7. Acknowledgement: waste of paper and ink, or interesting aside?

Ah I love the acknowledgements, especially when the author adds cool and quirky points in the back and I also love to read about what has inspired them throughout their journey and a little more of an idea as to the way in which the story was created.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

I would love to switch places with Feyre from A Court of Mist and Fury just so I could steal Rhysand for myself haha, also because I feel like the Night Court would be an absolute amazing site to see.

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life? (Place, time, person?)

My original copies of The Hunger Games hold many old memories, they were the books that got me back into reading, got me into the Young Adult books. They also helped me through an incredibly tough and sad time of my life and for that I will forever be thankful, I feel as though those books bring back so much peace and happiness that back then 12 year old me struggled to find.

10. Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.

I got my copy of Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalickici in a very interesting and special way, they sent it to me after I helped them spread the word about their new book coming out on my very old instagram that was back then dedicated to The Hunger Games, and since that day, they have since used my name as a character in book two Hunted and I’m so over the moon excited to have got this book, it was actually the first book I had got when I started blogging.

11. Have you ever given a book away for a special reason to a special person?

I have given a million books that I found special to me, to my mum to read as she is a very special person to me so I guess that counts right??

12. Which book has been with you most places?

My copy of Akarnae has been everywhere, it even came with me to America when I went to Disneyland!!! Other than that I haven’t been anywhere else where I have taken books that were special to me.

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

Too Kill A Mockingbird was probably the only one that I actually adored from one of the school books that I had to read.

14. Used or brand new?

New, I’m not very fond of second hand books for some reason and prefer to just buy them brand new, however I have had second hand books and still love them!

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

No, not really interested in them either.

16. Have you ever seen a movie you liked more than the book?

Hated the Maze Runner books but loved the movies so that would have to be my choice, Mainly probably because Dylan Obrien and well because we weren’t in Thomas’ annoying head.

17. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks included?

Don’t think so, not unless reading a cookbook counts?

18. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

I will take my close friends who I know have the same book taste as me, otherwise I won’t take anyone’s advice but my own and if it sounds up my alley, I’ll give it a go.

19. Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g., outside your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving?

I usually hate the genre of sci fi, however I found that I adored Illuminae and Fire in the Woods. I adored them both and also can’t wait to read more instalments of the both of them which I never thought I would.

THATS A WRAP

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG!

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG!

CREATED BY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYfgq8HgDc0

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE A LOT OF UNPOPULAR OPINIONS THAT NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO AGREE ON BUT THESE ARE MY OWN OPINIONS AND THATS NOT TO SAY YOU CANT LIKE SOMETHING THAT I DID NOT

QUESTION #1: A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES YOU DID NOT LIKE?

DIVERGENT BY VERONICA ROTH:
Found this book to be very unrealistic, I found that Tris as a character was portrayed to be this fearless and courageous character with no flaws which isn’t very true to society as I believe no one is fearless (Sorry T Swizzle) and I also found the whole being put into a faction a little bit silly after a while cause no one is real life would ever just be one faction. I also found the romance in the book to be a little bit insta lovey and at some points very unrealistic.

QUESTION #2: A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE?

VAMPIRE ACADEMY BY RICHELLE MEAD:
A lot of people found this book to be very lame and not very well written, however I found this to be very entertaining, funny, witty, sarcastic and all round just a really fun read. Dimitri and Rose were my faves and whenever I am in a book slump they always tend to get me back into my normal reading.

QUESTION #3: A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE THE MAIN CHARACTER ENDED UP WITH THE PERSON YOU DID NOT WANT?

SWITCHED BY AMANDA HOCKING:
Not going to go into any details on this one obviously because I don’t want to spoil, but if you have read this series then I think you will know who I am talking about and who I wanted the main character to end up with but didn’t

QUESTION #4: A POPULAR BOOK GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR?

SCI FI:
I really have a pet dislike for the genre of Sci Fi, I just can’t get my head around aliens and don’t find them fun to read about at all and really just find them to be really uninteresting and prefer to read things that are more realistic.

QUESTION #5: A POPULAR OR BELOVED CHARACTER YOU DO NOT LIKE?

JEM – THE INFERNAL DEVICES:
I know that SO many people love and adore Jem, however I did not really like him at all. I found him to be too gentle and wasn’t as exciting of a character to me as he seems to be for everyone else and I just didn’t really enjoy reading about him at all.

QUESTION #6: A POPULAR AUTHOR YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO?

ALEXANDRA BRACKEN:
I love Alex as a person, she is the sweetest, but I just could not get into her books as much as I wanted to. I read Passenger and found it to be okay but also not the best thing ever written and I just found the story to drag a lot. Also tried her other book The Darkest Minds and couldn’t get into it at all but do want to give it one more go before I give up on it completely.

QUESTION #7: A POPULAR TROPE THAT YOU’RE TIRED OF SEEING?

LOVE FIXING MENTAL ILLNESS:
This trope I just can’t seem to understand, how is love just magically curing mental illness in every single book these days? What happens to those reading these books thinking that they are going to be inspired because they have a book that they may be able to relate to, only to find that they need to find a partner in order to get better? It makes no sense to me and just normalises that love ‘fixes’ mental illness

QUESTION #8: A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING?

THE BONE SEASON BY SAMANTHA SHANNON:
Honestly not really interested in this book at all, I have no intentions to read it and I’m completely okay with it. I just think that it would all be a little too over my head and confusing and I get very confused very easily.

QUESTION #9: THE SAYING GOES “THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE”, BUT WHAT MOVIE OR TV SHOW DO YOU PREFER THE ADAPTION OVER THE BOOK?

THE MAZE RUNNER BY JAMES DASHNER:
I did not like this book at all, found the writing to be very not well written and the main character to be a big pain in the ass to read about and just didn’t enjoy reading, but then Dylan O’brien was cast as the main character in the movie and it al turned out so good and I just adored the movies so much more than I did reading the book.

AND THATS IT, HOPE YOU DON’T HATE ME TOO MUCH, COMMENT DOWN BELOW IF YOU AGREE WITH ME ON ANY OF THESE POINTS OR TELL ME YOUR ANSWERS FOR THESE QUESTIONS
