A COURT OF WINGS AND RUIN BY SARAH J MAAS BOOK REVIEW!
(WARNING – SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST TWO BOOKS, READ AHEAD AT YOUR OWN RISK)
A nightmare, I’d told Tamlin. I was the nightmare.
Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit—and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords—and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
This book wasn’t what I was anticipating. I was rather underwhelmed but still rather enjoyed it and still read it all in the one sitting.
For those of you that have read ACOMAF, you would know that anything wouldn’t beat that book and for me ACOWAR was just no where in its league and I think that was why I was underwhelmed by the book because of how outstanding I found ACOMAF.
This book however, did have its fair share of good moments and SJM even introduced the first ever diverse character into the mix which was a real shock to me because SJM hasn’t before of all the many books that she has wrote added any diversity to her work.
Feysand was obviously evident, the scenes weren’t anything like Starfall or the Cabin scenes from ACOMAF for me but there was a fair few of them that stood out to me in this book, I found that there were more Inner Circle moments than there were Feysand moments that I liked.
PAGE 666, DO I HAVE TO MENTION ANYTHING MORE?!?!? *INSERTS CRYING FACE EMOJI*
Overall, I found this book for the most part to be very fast paced, addicting and a good end to one of my favourite series. However comparing it to ACOMAF it was not nearly as good and I was rather underwhelmed comparing the two. Still though I was for the most part pleased with the ending and felt so many emotions for my fave characters.
