HEARTLESS BY MARISSA MEYER BOOK REVIEW:

SYNOPSIS:

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland and a favourite of the unmarried King, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, she wants to open a shop and create delectable pastries. But for her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for a woman who could be a queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the King’s marriage proposal, she meets handsome and mysterious Jest. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into a secret courtship.

Cath is determined to choose her own destiny. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

MY THOUGHTS:

This book was so much better than Marissa’s other books that I have tried to read but haven’t been able to get into. Heartless really showed Marissa’s growth in her writing and I really loved the writing style of this book, it was very easy to read and I found that it all flowed very well and I found it very easy to read.

I love Alice in Wonderland like many people do, and I found this story to be very enjoyable and even if you have not read the original story I believe that it can still be equally as good as it would be if you have read it.

One of my favourite aspects of the book is Cath, the main protagonists love for baking. I found myself feeling very hungry and wanting to do some baking myself (which I can tell you is very rare!). However my favourite character of the book would have to be the Cheshire cat, who was hilarious and just everything I expected him to be.

Overall, I found this book to be very fast paced, enjoyable and perfect for those that love to read retellings or have a strong love for Alice in Wonderland. Would recommend this to everyone that enjoyed Marissa’s other books too!
