Fire in the Woods Book Review!

Fire in the Woods by Jenner M. Eaton Review!

SYNOPSIS:
When a plane crashes in the woods near Jess’s home, the boy of her dreams falls out of the sky—literally.

But David’s not here to find a girlfriend. He’s from another planet, and if Jess can’t help him get back to his ship, he’ll be stuck on Earth with nothing to look forward to but the pointy end of a dissection scalpel. But her father runs their house like an army barracks. and with an alien on the loose, Major Dad isn’t too keen on the idea of Jess going anywhere.

Ever.

So how the heck is she supposed to help the sweetest, strangest, and cutest guy she’s ever met? Hiding him in her room probably isn’t the best idea. Especially since her Dad is in charge of the squadron searching for David.

That doesn’t mean she won’t do it.

It just means she can’t get caught. Helping David get home while protecting her heart—that’s gonna be the hard part.

After all, she can’t really fall for a guy whose not exactly from here. As they race through the woods with Major Dad and most of the U.S. military one breath behind them, Jess and David grow closer than either of them anticipated. But all is not what it seems. David has a genocide-sized secret, and one betrayal later, they are both in handcuffs as alien warships are positioning themselves around the globe. Time is ticking down to Armageddon, and Jess must think fast if she’s to save the boy she cares about without sacrificing Earth—and everyone on it.

MY THOUGHTS:
Fire in the Woods was different to any Sci-Fi book I have ever read! Usually the thought of reading an alien book kind of creeps me out but Fire in the Woods was nothing like that at all! It was fast paced, exciting and very entertaining.

Jess the main character I had a lot of common with, especially with her love for photography which made me understand and connect with Jess making her instantly likeable.

The building of the setting and the descriptions that Jennifer gives to describe her Sci-Fi universe were soooo interesting and sometimes really funny. The descriptions were very well done and easy to understand and imagine in my mind which is always a good plus.

Overall, Fire in the Woods was a fast paced, fantastic Sci-Fi read. Full of action, cute aliens and humour. Jess is a strong, funny and brave protagonist who really stands out from other female leads. Fire in the Woods is a must read if you enjoy Sci-Fi and aliens.

Betrothed Review!

Betrothed by Wanda Wiltshire review!

SYNOPSIS:
Amy Smith has always known she was different. Severe allergies, fragile health and taunts at school have made life an endurance test for the adopted seventeen year old.

When Amy starts having strange dreams, everything changes. Night after night, she becomes trapped in a shroud of black – a void of silence but for a male voice calling for a girl named ‘Marla’. One night, the darkness clears, Leif is revealed and Amy discovers that she is the girl he has been searching for.
Immediately the two are swept up in a passionate yet forbidden love. Leif isn’t like the other boys Amy knows. Breathtakingly gorgeous, he speaks with her telepathically … not to mention, he can fly …

Desperate to find a way to be with her, Leif tells Amy of the terrifying threat to his Fae homeland, the danger to the people, and of an unforgivable betrayal to his King. He urges her to seek her true identity…. But Amy is confused… isn’t it all just a dream?

MY THOUGHTS:
Oh my, everything about this book was beautiful from the description of Faera, the writing and characters.

The protagonist, Amy was a very bubbly and interesting character to read about, her love for nature and her friends was really nice to read about and Wanda’s writing of Amy was really intriguing.

Faera, the mythical world that Wanda created was just so realistic and I found it so easy to imagine it in my head which I really loved. Makes me really wish it was real so I could visit!

Overall, Betrothed was a really awesome fantasy read, beautiful writing, characters and world building! Would highly recommend to those that love cute fictional guys and have a love for fairies!

MY RATING: 4/5 stars!
